Battle of the Sexes

For FHE this last Monday we played Battle of the Sexes. For those who haven't played, you compete against the opposite gender in little relays, and also try to correctly answer questions that are usually something the opposite gender would know. The relays we had were: setting up 10 chairs for a classroom setting, hammering nails into a piece of wood, setting a formal place setting, painting fingernails, shooting free throws, and sewing on a button. We beat the boys at setting up the chairs and hammering the nails, two things that they technically should've won in. . . go girls! It was really funny. Including the points from the questions, we ended up tied at the end of the game with the guys. It was so much fun!

This was the first time I went to FHE in my new ward. So basically, as of then, no one knew yet that I was a baseball fanatic/freak. Well, now they do! There were three baseball questions that were asked, and I answered them with pretty much no hesitation. Everyone was a little bit surprised. No surprise to most of you though! But it was great, knowing that I actually contributed! Here's the questions that were asked:

  • In baseball, when the ball is hit and lands in fair territory and bounces into the stands, it's a what? Ground rule double
  • What is hitting for the cycle? A player that hits a single, double, triple, and homerun in a single game
  • If you were at Camden Yards, you would be watching what? An Orioles' baseball game

Brother Anderson, the member of the bishopric that was reading the questions for us girls, was a little bit surprised that I answered all those. Ok, a lot surprised. It was really funny. So yeah, the secret is now out. . . I'm a baseball freak!

The Office Calendar:
April 13th: "A woman shouldn't have to be hit by a car to learn that she might have rabies. But that is where we are in America and that does not sit right with me. And that's why I am hosting a fun run race for the cure for rabies. To raise awareness of the fact that there is a cure for rabies. A disease that has largely been eradicated in the United States but not many people know that." -Michael
April 14th: "[Monopoly] is nuts. Nobody just picks up 'get out of jail free' cards. Those things cost thousands." -Creed
April 15th: "Ryan thinks that technology is the answer. Well guess what? I just drove my car into a lake. . . . Why, you might ask, did I do this? Well, because of a machine. A machine told me to drive into a lake and I did it. I did it because I trusted Ryan's precious technology, and look where it got me." -Michael
April 16th: "When I was younger, I always wanted to be an actor in commercials. Then I realized I had a brain." -Oscar
April 17th: "You cannot take the hilarious black guy from the office. Stanley is part of what makes the office so extraordinary. The bluesy wisdom. The sassy remarks. The crossword puzzles, his smile, those big water red eyes. I don't know how George Bush did it when Colin Powell left." -Michael
April 18th/19th: "Every time Michael's in a meeting, he makes me come in a give him a Post-it note telling him who is on the phone. I did it once, and he freaked out, he loved it so much. The things is, he doesn't get that many calls, so he has me make them up every ten minutes." -Pam
April 20th: "What am I doing? I am blowing Dodge. I'm getting out of town. Whatever you call it. I am running away from my responsibilities. It feels good." -Michael
April 21st: "I know that you are probably scared of people seeing your fat legs in shorts. . . . Well, back in olden times, a large, fat person, like this, was a person of power, a person who had money and could buy food. A person of respect like the regional manager of the day." -Michael, to Kevin
April 22nd: "You may ask me out to dinner. Nothing fancy, or foreign. No bars, no patios, no vegetables, and no seafood." -Angela, to Andy
April 23rd: "I'm excited about doing the ad, but I'm not really used to doing videos with so many people around." -Meredith
April 24th: "Oh, hey, I know you—Elizabeth! Right? . . . Wow. Very cool you went back and got your degree. I would like you to accept this check for three hundred and forty dollars made out to 'science.' Make sure that gets into the right hands." -Michael
April 25th/26th: "Oscar, Toby, and I are founding members of the Finer Things Club. We meet once a month to discuss books and art, celebrate culture in a very civilized way. Sometimes the debate can get heated, but we're always respectful. There is no paper, plastic, and no work talk allowed. It's very exclusive." -Pam

Ice Cream Cake

I finally put the ice cream cake recipe up on my family's recipe blog. Click here if you want to see it. There are pictures to go along with it, because honestly, how often do you skip over making something from a cookbook because you can't see what it looks like?

Easter Sunday

AD didn't get to go on the normal Easter egg hunt that she's used to from being at home, but Cal did hide a chocolate bunny for her to go find.

We tried multiple times to take a "sister" picture but Jordan had to get in there with his cheeser smile!

FINALLY!

Adrianne had a hard time being serious.

Even now she's half smiling...

The girlies.

My best friend

So proper...

...until I say something that makes them really mad.

I don't remember how it happened, but AD said "wipe me" about something, and Cal followed orders!! It was hilarious!

And I have to throw in a picture of Gracie, the crazy cat who loves playing around in water.

The Office Calendar Quotes:
Apr. 8th: "This is who I am now, a guy on a train with no answers. I hope that can be enough for you." -Michael
Apr. 9th: "All right, let me ask you this. Tell me if you think this is creative. When I was five, I imagined that there was such a thing as a unicorn. And this is before I even heard of one or seen one. I just drew a picture of a horse that could fly over rainbows and had a huge spike in its head. I was five, five years old . . . couldn't even talk yet." -Michael
Apr. 10th: "I keep various weaponry strategically placed around the office. I saved Jim's life with a can of pepper spray I had velcroed undder my desk." -Dwight
Aprl. 11th/12th: Michael: "I was under the impression that this was going to be a rap." Darryl: "What's rap?" Michael: "Ok, Darryl, wow. You need to learn a lot about your culture. I'll make you a mix."

Dyeing Easter Eggs

AD and I spent Easter at Auntie Cal's. We went over Saturday night and spent the night. That night we dyed our Easter eggs.

I did all the work while they posed for all the pictures.

Getting really excited about the dyeing.

She's so proud!

The eggs are looking at you!

My New Toy

This is my newest purchase. A 22" monitor. Work is going to be so much easier on the days I'm working from home.

I love the cute picture of Dylan on the screen. My little boy is growing up so much! And yes, I'm on facebook, chatting away with Leah, and yes, those are Office magnets on the back of my desk. I truly am addicted.

Moving...

There's been a lot of moving going on the last 2 weeks. I moved apartments the end of May. I'm sad that I'm not living with Erika anymore, but not much I can do about that. Her job was up in the air until 2 weeks before we moved out, so we couldn't really plan on anything because she didn't know what her situation would be like for a while there. I moved in with Amy, who I met through Becky. They were in the same ward. I don't realize how much stuff I have until I'm trying to pack it up and move it. It's a little ridiculous, but I can't seem to part with any of it!

AD's moving out of her apartment, too. It's the end of the semester and she's going to go home. So I've been helping her move some stuff into my TINY storage unit while she's gone for the summer.

I pulled out all my DVD cases to pack them up. I guess I like movies.

Caging the wild beast... I mean, putting my bed in place. (Gotta love having the bed that's been in the family since before you were born!)

I'm a master at fitting stuff into a 5x5 storage unit. We'll be able to fit so much more of AD's stuff!

Becky, thanks for all of your help!! You were a life saver. And Amy, thanks for putting up with me and all my stuff all over the apartment before I finally got it organized!

Babysitting a Cutie!

Aunt Cathy and Uncle Gary, and Jeff and Kelli and kids were in town last weekend. One night they all went to the Real Salt Lake soccer game. AD and I babysat Addie for them that night. She wasn't too happy about mommy leaving, but she finally warmed up to us for a little bit. She is definitely a cutie!!

April Fools!

I never really participate in April Fools jokes. I'm not creative enough. However, we had to do something at work to keep ourselves entertained. M.C. and Becky decided to take a huge plant from one of the break rooms and put it on Kurt's desk. In response, Kurt took Becky's frog (a stressball with a gooey inside) and dissected it while Becky was in a meeting. He also unplugged everything on her desk. And then we didn't want Margaret, who was working from home that day, miss out on the fun. So we cut her plant down all the way! So we really aren't THAT horrible, because the plant was really mine, and it was just a sad little thing, and I had wanted to throw it away so she tried to help it get better. It wasn't, so I feel no remorse whatsoever for cutting the plant. I uploaded all the pictures and posted them on the respective persons Facebook walls. We definitely had some good fun in the office that day... maybe a little too much!

St. George roadtrip

I joined Ron, Cal, and the kids on a roadtrip to St. George. Ron plays in The Nashville Tribute Band, and they had a show down in St. George at the outdoor theatre. We stayed with Jeanine, Cal's best friend from way back when. It was a really good weekend, and nice to take an extra day off work!

Jordan, Krista, and I went to WalMart the night before to get snacks for our roadtrip. Jordan went with Krista's shorts on!

He's very comfortable with himself. We got many awkward glances/stares.

At Tuacahn before the show started. Jo's such a stud.

My cute cousins!

The performers. Ron was in the band, and Krista and Rachel sang.

AD's Not a Teenager!!

March 15th was AD's 20th birthday. No longer a teenager. For a while there she was trying to think of the last horrible thing that she could do as a teenager! Since her birthday was on a Sunday... Bre, Michelle and Sarah Pitts, and I took her out to PF Chang's on Saturday. Then Sunday we had dinner at Cal's for her birthday. Lasagna was what she asked for, and that's what she got!

The 5 of us demolishing the Great Wall of Chocolate at PF Chang's. That thing really didn't last long!!

Erika, Bre, Gpa, and Rach posing with the birthday girl.

Yes, AD, you really are special!

E-money, Kicka, and Adds

Like father, like daughter.

AD wanted Disney movies...

...and games.

This present was the best!

Blowing out the cake that I labored for many hours to make. Okay, not really.

And all that Jazz

I went to the Jazz game last month with my friends, Becky and Clint. They played the Houston Rockets. For some reason I have some sort of hatred towards the Jazz. I think it's because of an old roommate and her boyfriend that were really all about the Jazz and pretty stupid when it came to basketball, and it drove me nuts. So deep down, I really wanted the Rockets to win... especially since they used to be my hometown team. But for the sake of my life, I did not openly cheer for them. And I didn't want to be de-friended by Clint, who is an avid Jazz fan. The Rockets put up a fight, and got the lead towards the end, but couldn't hang on. I still had a really fun time. Basketball and friends, some of the best things in life!!

I've been in Utah for 7 years now, and this is the first time I've ever ridden Trax.

Me, Becky, and Clint at the game.

The end. I may be smiling, but I wasn't really happy about the score.

Week with Mama

Mom came to visit in the beginning of March. Grandpa had to have cataract surgery so she came to help him out. We benefited from the visit, of course! It was a blast and we had a lot of fun!

Adrianne gets really excited about donuts, and then hordes them.

The girls of our family (the ones in Utah, at least).

Played some Pit. AD is always happy when she wins!

Dinner at Cal's. My roommate, Erika, joined our family that weekend.
Everybody helping out cooking (except me, apparently).

Jo and AD are absolutely crazy together!

I think they just got told about Santa Clause.

By far two of my favorites!

Mom's got an evil streak in her, so watch out!

We played LOTS of Apples to Apples.

Apparently the cards you win are supposed to describe you. These are AD's cards... we thought they were pretty hilarious!!

It was a really fun week! And the best part is that Mom's going to be back really soon!! We're going to help Cathy and Gary move all their stuff into their new place here in Salt Lake. Another fun girl week!
